Bogus prophets rob student

A 24-year-old student was robbed of her two laptops by two supposedly bogus prophets in Tembisa on Wednesady last week.

Ms Thapelo Nare said she was on her way to class when she met the two men in Kempton Park.

One of the men approached her and told her he was a prophet, and that he had seen problems in her family, who live in Tembisa.

“He told me there were two laptops at my home and that one was disfuntional. He said I should take him home to pray for them,” she said.

The prophet also told her that if her brother opens the laptons before they prayed for them, he would go blind.

The prophet also told her that there was only R20 in her room, which was true. They took her to Tembisa where she fetched the laptops from the house.

The prophet drove to a store in Tembisa and gave her R10 to buy milk for the prayers to work. She obliged, but when she came back, the two men were nowhere to be seen.

The Tembisa SAPS communications director, Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha, confirmed that Ms Nare had opened a case and that the police were investigating.

“We are calling on members of the community with information to contact the nearest police station,” he said.
