Boy saves his little brother from house inferno

Two young boys were allegedly asleep in the house when the fire erupted

Two brothers were asleep in their Birchleigh North home on Friday morning when a fire broke out in the main bedroom.

It is believed the older brother realised their home was on fire and immediately got his little brother out of the house.

Neighbours said they had seen the two little boys running up and down the street screaming for help.

The fire department got a call at about 9am that a house fire had broken out at 43 Susanna Road.

According to the Kempton Park fire department’s senior district manager, Attie Benson, firefighters arrived on the scene to find the main bedroom well alight.

“A few minutes after their arrival, the roof caved in,” said Benson.

Benson applauded the older brother, calling him a hero for ensuring the safety of his younger brother first and foremost.

It is still unclear as to what the cause of the fire was but Benson said it originated in the main bedroom.

Their father was too traumatised to speak to EXPRESS.
