SA celebs show support for Tekkie Tax day

Put your best foot forward this May and support the next Tekkie Tax Day on Friday, May 29

IT’S that time of the year again when you can kick off your high heels, school shoes or boots and swap them for your comfy pair of tekkies.

Tekkie Tax is a national fundraising campaign for a proud group of welfare organisations in SA, who came together for the biggest campaign of all time.

Tekkie Tax believe that: “Together we can achieve more than our individual efforts combined.”

Support the day on May 29 and choose a sector you want to support – or more than one. The sectors and their celeb ambassadors are animals (Jack Parow), basic family care (Sade Giliberti), children (Sorina Erasmus), disability (Katlego Maboe) or education (Tebogo Kgobokoe).

Get your R10 sticker (that is the tax you pay) and wear your tekkies. Maybe just wash them before you wear them. If you don’t have time, you can get a pair of funky shoelaces called “tekkie tags”. This way you won’t be ashamed because you can’t tell the colour of your tekkies anymore.

You can get the stickers and “tekkie tags” directly from Epilepsy SA, www.epilepsy.org.za.

The campaign benefits 16 of the biggest and most accountable national NGOs in the country, representing more than 1 500 local organisations such as Epilepsy SA, Childcare SA, SOS Children’s Villages, CHOC (Childhood Cancer Foundation), Special Olympics SA, Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT), HPCA (Hospice Palliative Care SA), CANSA, Imisebeyelanga Services and more.
