Couple celebrate their 50 years together

They got married in the Anglican Church and will celebrate this milestone by going out to dinner.

Communication is one of the main ingredients to the secret recipe Margaret and Daniel Botha have for being married 50 years.

“Communication is very important, I believe,” says Margaret.

The NEWS recently sat down with the couple who will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary on 7 September.

As a child, Daniel moved to Krugersdorp in 1949.

He met his future wife at church when she was only 12 years old. They have known each other for 57 years and brought three children into the world.

Even thought they moved to Durban for two years, they somehow managed to find their way back to Krugersdorp.

Daniel was a plumber by trade, while Margaret worked as a secretary.

Both are now retired and love to go caravanning at the south coast.

They got married in the Anglican Church and will celebrate this milestone by going out to dinner.

“We still love each other after all these years,” says Margaret who explains how they grew up together.

The couple is also proud to say that they are grandparents to eight children and hope to be a true inspiration to them.

“Never hold a grudge. It is just something you do not do.”

With this simple rule to follow, Margaret and Daniel look forward to spending the next 50 years together.
