Hospital responds about missing patient

A patient suffering from meningitis has mysteriously disappeared from the Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital.

Kefilwe Mahlangu (45), who suffers from meningitis, disappeared almost 20 days ago from the Dr Yusuf Dadoo and her family is getting worried.

The NEWS had a meeting with Puseletso Mabidikame, Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital’s spokesperson about the situation and this is her media statement.

“Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital would like to comment on the complaint and would like to thank the journalist who ran the story for coming to our institution and do some investigation.”

She says that the hospital confirms that Mahlangu was admitted on 6 September and absconded on 15 September.

“Upon realising that the patient was missing, the matter was immediately reported to the night supervisor on the said date at about 7.30pm,” says Mabidikame.

“Both the Chief Executive Officer and the Quality Assurance Coordinator were also informed. A night search as conducted by our security personnel and the nurses. The Krugersdorp and Randfontein South African Police Service were informed and are busy with investigations.”

She confirmed that the hospital is offering social support to the family.
