Take back your health

It's that time of the year when everyone wants a bikini or six pack shape for the December holidays.

It’s that time of the year when everyone wants a bikini or six-pack shape for the December holidays.

Looking forward to a well-earned holiday at the beach is great, but those who are not comfortable wearing a bikini or a bathing suit often dread the thought of parading on the beach among strangers.

Even though you’ve had multiple opportunities to change your bad habits and improve your health, life somehow just got in the way and you never got around to doing what you set out to do. Another year has gone and so has the new year’s resolutions of becoming fit and healthy in 2013.

Stian Weideman, a strength and conditioning coach at Sportcon Fitness and Performance Centre at the Anthos Centre on Voortrekker Road says that a few members from their facility who had this goal found a reason to quit as soon as the first obstacle appeared, and to postpone it to next year’s resolution.

“At Sportcon Fitness and Performance Centre our goal is to help everybody to achieve their objective of becoming fit and healthy. At our facility you won’t lose 10kg after a week as if by magic, you actually need to work for it – just as you need to work for the food that you put on the table. Our society is inclined towards instant gratification based by wanting things immediately.”

He explains that unfortunately it is not possible when it comes to your health.

“You can make positive changes immediately, but the positive effects will become visible only after a couple of weeks or even a month, depending on a variety of factors. You do not eat one hamburger and instantly gain 10kg; this happens over a period of months or maybe even years. Therefore you will not lose 10kg after one salad and one workout.”

Stian says their vision is to change the unhealthy habits of adults in Krugersdorp.

“By changing the bad habits of the parents we will change the children’s habits. It’s very worrying that South Africa is among the countries with the most obese people and although we can’t change the state of the country, we can change Krugersdorp.”

He explains that it is difficult to be on a transformation journey, therefore they created a 28-day transformation challenge.

“You will get results in 28 days; not the same as in eight weeks though, but most people can’t last a full eight weeks and therefore we want you to lay a foundation with a shorter challenge. We offer a full 28-day meal plan, home workouts, tips and tricks to improve results, and complete transformation training at our facility.”

The time is now to take back your health. For more information on their transformation challenge go to www.krugersdorptransformation.co.za.
