Police remember their fallen during special celebration
The in-remembrance ceremony proved to be an emotional moment as all the names of the officers who recently died in the line of duty were read out.
Police officials from Krugersdorp came together to celebrate National Police Day on 27 January.
The Krugersdorp Cluster met at the Kagiso Police Station where they celebrated yet another year in the force.
The main theme of the day was the plea to stop killing police members.
The proceeding started with an opening prayer and scripture reading by Reverend Mabotho.
Constable Tshepiso Mashale, communications officer for the Krugersdorp Police Station took the role of MC for the event.
Major General Mateisi explained the purpose of the day.
The in-remembrance ceremony proved to be an emotional moment as all the names of the officers who recently died in the line of duty were read out. Community members who joined the celebrations praised the police and thanked them for everything they do for the community.
“It was a very emotional yet exciting celebration,” said Mashale.
In the candlelight ceremony four candles each representing a special message were lit.
The first candle was a plea to stop killing police members, the second was to express sympathy to all the police widows and orphans, with the third representing protection for the police and top management. The fourth was for a chain prayer.
Reverend Mabotho’s message of encouragement was, “God has chosen us to serve in the organisation. God loves us all. Close the door so that you can focus when you speak to the Lord.”
The event that was put together by the Krugersdorp Cluster Women’s Network was an emotional, yet successful celebration of our police force.
