Update: Woman burnt beyond recognition in Krugersdorp car fire near local school

West Rand Emergency Services confirmed that a woman was found burnt beyond recognition.

Tragedy struck at Coronation Park on Wednesday, November 5, after a charred body was removed from a burnt-out vehicle near the fence of a local school.

According to West Rand Emergency Services regional commander Gerhard Nieuwoudt, emergency personnel received the call at about 13:20 regarding a vehicle on fire.

“On our arrival, the vehicle was well alight, with a woman burnt beyond recognition,” Nieuwoudt said.

He confirmed that multiple resources were deployed to the scene, including personnel from Fire Station 38, police, forensic teams, and the K9 Search and Rescue Unit.

Nieuwoudt added that no major challenges were encountered during the operation and that the scene was cleared at about 15:56.
