Residents face low water pressure, shortages
Critical water levels have forced infrastructure protection measures, with residents warned that water pressure may worsen, particularly in higher-lying areas.
Some areas in Krugersdorp have experienced low water pressure and even dry taps since the past weekend, as there is a water supply interruption from Rand Water’s side.
This issue has come under the attention of Mogale City Local Municipality’s (MCLM) Water Services, and today (September 9), MCLM announced its systems have reached critical levels.
“The systems are further strained by the demand that exceeds the current water supply, which puts extra pressure on our storage capacity,” confirmed MCLM communications officer, Refilwe Mahlangu.
She added that they are protecting infrastructure by reducing pumping, which will affect residents in higher-lying areas.
“We urge residents to use water sparingly until Rand Water has recovered and stabilised,” she concluded.
