Massive power outage hits Krugersdorp

Councillor Lourens Gouws confirmed the outage was not caused by the municipality and was likely due to an Eskom-related trip

A widespread power outage affected most parts of Krugersdorp on Thursday afternoon, February 12.

According to councillor Lourens Gouws, electricity supply to large areas of the town tripped at about 14:12.

He said the fault did not originate from the municipality’s infrastructure and that Eskom was immediately informed of the outage.

Power was restored at around 14:35, with Gouws indicating that the incident was most likely caused by a trip on Eskom’s side.
