Lizzo goes see-through for Cardi B’s ‘Passa Passa’ themed birthday party

Guests showed up and showed skin for Cardi B's 'Passa Passa' themed birthday party, showcasing her love for dancehall and Caribbean culture.

Musician Lizzo has once again gotten tongues wagging for the outfit she wore to rapper Cardi B’s “Passa Passa” themed birthday party.

The rapper celebrated turning 29 by paying homage to dancehall music and the Jamaican tradition called “Passa Passa”.

According to Essence magazine, “Passa Passa” refers to a weekly street party that “features the selected sounds of dancehall music, wining to the ground, and fashions that would make anyone clutch their pearls”.

It often takes place after Ash Wednesday and began back in 2003.

She confirmed the theme on her social media and told guests to “come ready to skin out”.

Stars such as her husband Offset, Snoop Dogg, Megan Thee Stallion, Teyana Taylor, Taraji P. Henson and Tiffany Haddish were all in attendance.

Cardi paid homage to the dancehall queens of the late 90s and early 2000s by wearing a Laurel Dewitt custom chain bra, paired with pum pum shorts and fishnet stockings.

Her hairstylist also gave her an updo with hard curls pinned up, while a few waterfall tresses hung about her head. She also had a fringe laid across the front of her head and pinned to one side.

Lizzo wore a see-through crystal mesh “new moon” Matthew Wriesman dress, paired only with a flesh-coloured thong and some social media users were not happy to see her nipples.

However, Lizzo’s outfit was on theme as other stars such as Karrueche Tran, Teyana Taylor and Megan Thee Stallion also showed lots of skin.

The world may not be happy with the party’s risque theme but Jamaicans and other Afro-Caribbean people loved it.

They also loved seeing artists such as Shenseea, Spice, Ding Dong and Mr Vegas booked to perform at the event.

The Jamaica Observer reports that popular sound system operators Chromatic were also booked for the event.
