Resident ecstatic after winning brand-new car
A resident of Mangweni was overjoyed when she won a brand new car from Roots Butchery in Tonga Mall on December 16.
TONGA – An electric atmosphere surrounded Roots Butchery in Tonga Mall on December 16, while 10 finalists waited to see if they would be the one to drive away in a new car.
The Roots Win-A-Car Competition opened in May and consisted of customers writing their contact details on the back of their till slip and dropping it in a special box to be entered.
Roots Tonga faced a big challenge in June; the first car was damaged in the fire that ravaged a part of the store. They managed to recover, and end the year by giving back to the local community that had loyally supported them.
The 10 finalists were chosen and on the Day of Reconciliation, had the opportunity to compete in one last draw. Each drew a number and received a corresponding envelope, with five proving to be a lucky number for Maria Khoza.
The Mangweni resident cried tears of joy, as she was extremely excited to own a car for the first time in her life.
Finalist Ntombikayise Sitiba won a new Defy fridge, while the remaining eight each received shopping vouchers. Other lucky shoppers received Roots caps and shopping bags.
“From the bottom of our hearts, on behalf of Roots, I want to thank you for joining us in making our business grow and believing in us. We are not growing for ourselves, we add value to the whole area. Thank you guys, for the being part of the vision that we have,” said store manager Mr Tony Gouveia at the ceremony.
