State of Ehmke street park vastly improved.

Last week the newspaper revisited the park to reassess its state and found that it had greatly improved.

Three weeks ago Nelspruit Post reported on the deplorable state of the Ehmke Street park. Since then, members of ASC Security, Bossies Community Justice, the Nelspruit Concerned Citizens group and staff of Village SPAR embarked on a joint clean-up effort.

On the first visit the park was littered with plastic bottles and bags, Styrofoam food containers, papers and various alcoholic-beverage bottles. Upon visiting it last week, this journalist observed that the litter had mostly been cleared up.

By and large, the only thing which still remained an eyesore was the large quantities of broken glass.According to an ASC security guard who wished not to be named, this had been dumped by individuals who had been drinking in the park over weekends.
