Truck driver injured in Mbombela accident

Emergency services treated a truck driver on-scene after his vehicle overturned. No other vehicles were involved.

A truck driver sustained minor injuries when his vehicle overturned on the R40 in Riverside, Mbombela, on November 25.

According to Jan Oberholzer, operational manager of Divergent Medical Services, the driver was alone in the truck when emergency teams arrived.

“He was extracted and treated on-site before being transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital for further medical care. The cause of the accident is not yet known,” Oberholzer said.

Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, said traffic is currently disrupted as recovery efforts continue. “Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays. I also urge road users to exercise caution due to the rain, as the road is slippery,” he said.

Mmusi reported that no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
