Funny girls shoot from the hip
Thenjiwe Mosley is one of those comedians who keeps a straight face, no matter what.

MBOMBELA – As part of celebrating Women’s Month, Emnotweni hosted the First Ladies of Comedy last Friday night.
The fans were in a jovial mood, despite the fact that the show started an hour late. There were a few surprises on the night. Two local women, both from Ligwalagwala FM, performed stand-up comedy for the first time. First to wow the crowd was Khethiwe from Ngalutfota Lolumanti, the popular soapie. She kept the crowd in stitches with simple, township-style comedy. Then LaMabuza, of the same show, took to the stage to warm fans up to national sensation, Thenjiwe Mosley. Mosley made a name for herself on social media.
Fans know her for her hilarious videos in which she brags about her brother’s fancy funeral. She is also known for a sketch where she acts as a sangoma and encourages her clients to check in on Facebook and hash tag on Twitter when they pay their sangoma a visit. Her work is not only known in South Africa, but internationally as well, and she has performed in England and Scotland.
The crowd was kept on its toes as she delivered joke after joke. Mosley is one of those comedians who keeps a straight face, no matter what. Then it was time for the main act of the night, Tumi Morake. She visited Mbombela for the first time as the headline act.
Her previous visit saw her open for David Kau in 2010. Morake shot from the hip and was not afraid to talk about any subject, from a boyfriend who broke her heart, to Jacob Zuma. In a world of stand-up comedy mainly dominated by men, these first ladies of comedy held their own. ||First ladies || LOW-BMASH-Community-First-ladies-of -comedy
