BCR producer nominated as best radio personality

Barberton Community Radio (BCR) programme producer, Marycate Masilela has been nominated for the Sunrise Women Awards. The event will take place in August at Emnotweni Arena.

Masilela will compete with other well-established and experienced women from various radio stations in the best radio personality category.

Her nomination is in recognition of her efforts in her show, called E’bioscope, which is broadcast on Fridays at 09:35 and caters for movie lovers.

Masilela is the producer in charge of the Elevation show from 09:00 to 12:00 and the Flavour show from 15:00 to 18:00 on weekdays.

According to Masilela, the E’bioscope is unique and focuses on the South African movie industry.

In her show, she interviews well-known producers and directors. So far, she has interviewed big names such as John Barker, who directed Wonder Boy for President, David Max Brown from Noem my Skollie, Meg Richards, who directed the film Tess, and the upcoming State Enemy which is produced by local producer Elvis Nkosi.

This coming Friday Masilela will be interviewing the legend Mbongeni Ngema, who is well known for producing Sarafina, on his latest film called Asinamali.
To vote for Masilela, SMS SWA063 to 34255 for the best radio personality. “Let us bring it home with your vote,” she said.

It is not the first time that her show has been nominated for awards. Last year the afternoon drive show, presented by DJ Dops Mkhabela, was nominated in the National Liberty Radio Awards.
