MBOMBELA – A South African National Defense Force (SANDF) truck landed in the Crocodile River after it veered off the bridge on Saturday morning. SANDF spokesman, Lt Col Piet Paxton, said there were 12 soldiers in the truck when the accident occurred.

The truck was driving from Lower Sabie side towards Macadamia to refuel.

An eyewitness said they had apparently seen the tyre of the truck hit the side of a cement block and veer off the bridge.

“At the moment it looks like a driver error but we are investigating what happened.”
