Potential Miss Eagle SA needs the community’s votes

"Warrior princess" Gcebile Mhlanga (22) hopes to take her campaign to inspire young people to the highest level of the Miss Eagle SA pageant.

JEPPES REEF – Gcebile Mhlanga is currently a semi-finalist and has only two weeks left to get enough points to qualify as a finalist in the national pageant.

The final-year physiotherapy student at the University of Pretoria is from Magogeni and entered the pageant to gain confidence in herself and learn new skills.

She is one of six semi-finalists from Mpumalanga and has done volunteer work at old-age homes, schools for people with disabilities, orphanges, clinics and day-care centres to encourage people to follow their dreams.

Miss Eagle SA aims to empower and develop young women, so participants are required to perform a list of tasks to reach the finals. As part of these tasks, Gcebile is now an ambassador of motofind.co.za, a free vehicle-listing service.

Gcebile was bullied as a child and hopes to use the Miss Eagle SA platform to teach children to embrace their unique characteristics and to inspire them to better themselves.

She is writing a book called Life as I Know It, which details her life experiences and the impact they had on her.

The aspiring beauty queen thanks the people of Nkomazi and Mpumalanga for their invaluable support but said she needs more support to bring the crown home.

To vote for her, send an SMS with her name, Gcebile, to 35334 (SMS costs R3) and she could win the People’s Choice Award.

The pageant winners will be announced during an event at the Sandton Convention Centre on December 15.

“The journey on Miss Eagle SA is amazing. It helps with a lot of skills and reminds you of how wonderful you can be. I encourage the youth and women to apply for it and join this beautiful movement. It truly is inspiring and that is what I’ve always wanted to do – inspire people,” Gcebile concluded.
