We were the greenest town of the year, the cleanest town of the year, and the most financially stable town for years on end - so why not be kykNET Kwêla's Town of the Year?

Middelburg could be KykNET Kwêla’s Town of the Year, depending on how much pride residents show in the town, by means of voting for Middelburg between 15 and 19 July.
One true Middelburg resident, Dr Kobus Terblanché, is all fired up and has committed to sponsoring 500 text messages as a start.
Middelburg’s first resident, mayor Mike Masina, this week officially declared Friday, 17 July, Vote for Middelburg Day, and together with the Middelburg Observer, Mayor Masina appeal to residents to get those fingers dialing, and texting the word Middelburg to 33157 between 15 and 19 July.
If Middelburg is announced the winner, KykNet will offer R1 million worth of broadcasting value on the DStv channel KykNET.
According to Bennie Robinson (Headline Entertainment) R1 million worth of marketing airtime, could see a local economic spike of 30%.
Kwêla wil also shoot a 30-seconds insert on Middelburg which will be shown regularly in KykNET’s advertising slots.
A massive party will also be hosted in Middelburg during the first week of September, with good music, good food and lots of fun, to celebrate the town’s spirit.
Nine towns from eight provinces (Gauteng and North-West falls together), and Namibia, has been chosen for the Town of the Year final, and Homebrew has already filmed inserts.
Middelburg’s insert will be broadcast on Wednesday, June 24, at 20:00 on DStv KykNET channel 144.
