Take charge of your own meter readings!

This app will enable rate players to take control of their meter readings.

Ever questioned the municipal meter reading estimations when you get your monthly bill?

The municipality has officially launched its My Municipal Meters app.

This app will enable rate players to take control of their meter readings.

The app is a mobile application designed to help residents manage their municipal services, particularly electricity and water meter readings.

This app allows residents to submit water and electricity meter readings directly. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, or Huawei App Gallery.

Executive Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela, municipal officials, and Council Speaker Thato Mathunyane officially launched the app on March 2 in Ward 2, Hlalamnandi.

The officials also educated residents in Wards 11, 12, and 23, where they were joined by Clr Deon Joubert van der Merwe, Clr Hennie Niemann, and Clr Joyce Zondo.

The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality joins the likes of eThekwini Municipality, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, which also implement the application.

Here are the steps to download the municipal meter app:

• Visit your app store and download the My Municipal Meters.

• Register your cellphone number or email address.

• Choose the service provider, which is the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

• Enter your municipal account number.

• Select the meter number and take a photo of the meter, enter the reading, and submit it (do not enter decimal numbers).

• You are only allowed to enter a maximum of two readings per month on the 15th and 20th every month.
