Midrand to experience multiple planned power outages in July

City Power has confirmed a series of scheduled power interruptions across Midrand and nearby suburbs throughout July.

City Power has issued notices for several planned electricity outages across Midrand and surrounding areas this July, citing essential maintenance work as part of efforts to improve network reliability.

Suburbs set to be affected include: Beaulieu Estate, Vorna Valley, and Noordhang, with each scheduled for a full-day of power interruption.

 Houtkoppen substation (rescheduled)

  • New date: Tuesday, July 8
  • Time: 08:00 to 16:00
  • Affected Area: Noordhang, Dexter Road

Beaulieu switching station

  • Date: Tuesday, July 15
  • Time: 09:00 to 17:00
  • Affected Area: Entire Beaulieu Estate

Vorna Valley substation

  • Date: Thursday, July 17
  • Time: 09:00 to 17:00
  • Affected Areas: Derby Crescent and surroundings, as well as Bridgestone tyre facility

City Power explained that the planned outages are required to perform critical upgrades and preventative maintenance on the electrical grid to reduce the frequency of unplanned power failures.
