Midrand siblings work to take SA talent to international stages

From Midrand rooftops to European stages, SJ and Kristin Singh are showing that when passion is consistent and faith is real, doors do not just open, they unlock themselves.

Midrand siblings Sashen ‘SJ’ Singh and his sister, Kristin, are making their mark in both the music and entertainment industries, while balancing academic and entrepreneurial pursuits.

SJ (23) is completing a BCom Law degree while working full-time as a manager at Chatz Featherbrooke. A fitness enthusiast and self-taught DJ, he founded LSD Events in May 2024, intending to offer fresh entertainment experiences. Within months, his work gained traction, and by this year, he was performing in Europe.

Kristin (19) is a first-year law student and international model who has graced runways in London and Milan. She serves as a director at LSD Events and has also built her own reputation as a DJ, performing in Europe earlier this year.

The two perform individually, each with a distinct sound and stage presence. Their sets span genres from Amapiano and Afrohouse to R&B and hip hop. They have shared stages with artists including Tyler ICU, DJ Fresh, Chrizz Beatz, Summer Heynes, Ryan the DJ, and others.

Through LSD Events, the duo has hosted several notable events, including the official TYLA Afterparty, the Roots of Mzansi Festival, Night of the Stars, and the National R&B vs Amapiano Festival.

The brand recently expanded internationally, hosting a collaboration event in Europe under the LSD International banner.

Their next event, Night of the Stars: Summer Edition, takes place on November 29 at The Beach in Rivonia. They are also preparing a New Year’s Eve collaboration event at the same venue, which they describe as something different from every other event.

Their latest project, the LSD Records YouTube Channel, aims to give emerging artists a platform to perform alongside established names.

The siblings attribute their rapid growth to hard work, consistency, and the support of fellow artists, supportive venues, and their family.

“Attitude is key. Faith is a necessity. With the right mindset, the impossible becomes possible,” said the duo.

Balancing studies and business, SJ and Kristin are challenging expectations of what young creatives can achieve and proudly flying the local flag on global stages.
