Building on last year’s incredible success and vibrant partnership with Kyalami Corner Shopping Centre, this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better, when it takes place on August 31.

After an impressive turnout of 1 800 athletes, and a flawlessly executed event last year, the club aims to elevate the experience this year with a goal of surpassing 2 500 participants.

Race director Gabriel Mphahlele emphasised the synergy of this collaboration, noting that the partnership with Kyalami Corner exceeded expectations when they decided to host the race, resulting in a perfect match. “Since then, this partnership has expanded beyond the half-marathon. We now also begin our weekly time-trial runs at Kyalami Corner, creating a vibrant hub for fitness enthusiasts and strengthening the bond between the centre and our running community.”

This year’s half-marathon will feature three race distances: 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km, with entries closing on August 22. A portion of the race proceeds will be allocated to support underprivileged individuals and groups, removing barriers that prevent their participation in the sport.

“This contribution will go toward providing essential running gear, entry fees, and training support, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the running community,” Mphahlele added.

This year’s event will also be significant for the Midrand Striders, as they celebrate their remarkable success at the Comrades Marathon, achieving an outstanding 97% finish rate, with every female and novice runner from the club crossing the finish line.

To enhance the race experience in 2025, the club will offer race T-shirts, at cost price, and significantly increase the prize money to exceptionally competitive levels.

Interested participants can secure their spots by signing up for the Kyalami Corner Midrand Striders Half-Marathon 2025 and visiting www.peaktiming.co.za for online entries.
