One nabbed after truck hijacking

A suspect has been arrested he was spotted driving a hijacked truck carrying computers worth R6 million on the R21 in Kempton Park.

Two other suspects are believed to be on the run in a silver Ford Figo, Kempton Express reported.

Police made the arrest on the R21 just before the Atlas Road off-ramp.

The truck was hijacked in Heidelberg, and a tracking company notified the police and gave a description of the vehicle. It was first spotted on Barbara Road by the flying squad.

This after a hijacked truck was found by the Hartebeeskop police in Mpumalanga earlier this month.

The truck was apparently hijacked at gunpoint from its driver in Bronkhortspruit.

In December, A truck loaded with liquor was hijacked on Holfontein Road, Welgedacht Agricultural Holdings, in Gauteng.

The driver of the truck and a colleague had been on their way to do a delivery when they were stopped at the Springs Etwatwa turn-off by two alleged Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officials.
