VIDEO: Car remote jamming in Joburg

A video has surfaced on YouTube showing yet another incident of car remote jamming in Johannesburg.

The video, uploaded earlier this week, shows an incident that occured at a filling station in the Sandton area on January 19, Sandton Chronicle reported.

In the video, a woman is seen driving into the petrol station while two suspects in a black Mercedes Benz wait for her to exit her car.

After the woman walks into the service station shop, one of the suspects is seen approaching her car holding what is believed to be a generic remote control.

The suspect then opens the victim’s vehicle and steals various items out of it before returning to his car.

The two suspects are then seen driving off.

Sandton police spokesperson Captain Kym Cloete said car jamming occurs primarily at shopping malls, filling stations and schools.

She also urged residents to manually check if their cars are locked and to park them in clear view of the public.

In a separate incident of car jamming, CCTV footage showing a woman’s car getting robbed at a petrol station emerged in November last year.

The woman is seen driving into the garage in a silver vehicle, parking in front of the garage shop, getting out of the car and entering the store.

A red vehicle then parks next to the woman’s car, and a man exits.

He is then seen opening the boot of the victim’s car and removing what appears to be a bag before getting back into the red vehicle, which then speeds off.
