Covid-19 cases in SA rise to 688 532
Some 1 641 new infections were recorded on Friday and 139 more people have died.

South Africa now has 688 532 confirmed Covid-19 cases, the Department of Health announced on Friday.
This is an increase of 1 641 new infections.
There were 139 more deaths recorded, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country to 17 547.
According to data released by the Department of Health, 620 081 recoveries have been recorded to date.
In total, 4 360 105 Covid-19 tests have been conducted.
The following confirmed Covid-19 cases have been detected in each province, according to the data released on Friday:
– Western Cape: 112 264 cases
– Gauteng: 222 374 cases
– KwaZulu-Natal: 120 160 cases
– Eastern Cape: 90 479 cases
– Limpopo: 16 133 cases
– Mpumalanga: 28 006 cases
– North West: 30 522 cases
– Northern Cape: 18 628 cases
– Free State: 49 966 cases
