Gautrain to reroute and reschedule buses

Gautrain commuters have been notified of crucial bus route changes in Pretoria from August 31, 2015.

According to a Gautrain media release, the Gautrain bus service will be discontinued on several routes and new schedules will be introduced, Rekord East reported.

Bus services will cease between Hatfield station and Queenswood and between Pretoria station and Groenkloof.

Furthermore, routes currently running at 24-minute intervals will now run every 20 minutes during peak hours. During peak hours and in keeping with their train schedule, buses will now be leaving at 10-minute intervals from the Pretoria  CBD and the Techno Park area in Centurion.

The route between Hatfield Station and H3 Arcadia will be changed slightly to accomodate commuters travelling to the Union Buildings.

The train service in recent times has come under fire for delays, including the delays going beyond 20 minutes that disgruntled commuters travelling from Pretoria to Johannesburg in June.

The commuters took to twitter and accused the service of lying when it said the delay would be about 20 minutes as they had reportedly been waiting for over 40 minutes for the train.

The service line between the Rosebank and Sandton stations was suspended due to repairs. A bus shuttle service was offered as an alternative for commuters.
