Husband shoots wife dead then himself
The man was found on the driver’s seat with a gun in his hand, and his wife was sitting on the passenger seat.
Weekend celebrations ended in tragedy at a popular shisanyama place in Clermont, Durban, after a husband allegedly shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself.
The man and woman aged 28 and 34 were found inside a white Opel Astra on Zazi Road, Clermont, on Sunday afternoon, Highway Mail reported.
KwaDabeka police spokesperson Captain Mazwi Mbatha said, according to the information received, police were informed that there was a shooting incident at a butchery along Zazi Road.
“On arrival, they found the couple who were both shot in the mouth. The man was found on the driver’s seat with a gun in his hand and his wife was sitting on the passenger seat.
“Two cartridges were found at the scene. The motive of the killing is unknown at this stage, but it is suspected that the couple had an argument which led to the man shooting his wife and turning the gun on himself,” said Mbatha.
Netcare media liaison officer Chris Botha said paramedics responded to the shooting.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman sitting in the front seats of their vehicle. Both were declared dead due to the severe injuries they sustained,” said Botha.
