No arrests after KZN drive-by shooting

Investigations are under way after Public Safety boss was shot at this afternoon at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital, near the maternity ward, in KwaZulu-Natal.

It is believed a vehicle drove past Patric Simelane’s vehicle and shots were fired, Ladysmith Gazettereported.

Simelane was reportedly with a well-known taxi boss.

It was still unclear who the target had been, police said.

Police believe the gunmen used an assault rifle.

No one was injured in the shooting.

In a separate incident, a taxi owner was shot dead in Norkem Park, Gauteng, last Friday.

Rapson Mbazima Ngoveni (60) was driving a grey 4×4 Trail Blazer Chevrolet when he stood at a stop sign, and a white Toyota Tazz stopped close to him, police said.

The occupants walked up to his vehicle and opened fire. He died on the scene, added police.
