Robbers threaten to shoot mother and daughter

Investigations are ongoing after a woman and her daughter were held at gunpoint during a house robbery in their home in Eastvale, Gauteng.

Springs police spokesperson Captain Johannes Ramphora said the woman’s daughter heard a door opening at about 2.05am on Monday and felt something moving, Springs Advertiser reported.

“She jumped up, and as she entered the passage, she noticed a man and started to scream. She then ran to her mother’s bedroom shouting ‘There is someone in the house’,” added Ramphora.

He said four men entered the bedroom and demanded cash from them. One of the robbers threatened to shoot the women.

“While one of the suspects held the victims at gunpoint, others searched the house. They took a wristwatch, TV and cellphones before leaving the house. No one was injured,” added Ramphora.

Anyone with information that can assist police in their investigation can call 011-365-5700/19/20.

In a separate incident, a case of house robbery was opened after an 80-year-old woman, and her daughter were allegedly attacked by two armed men in Van Riebeeck Park, Kempton Park, in May.

Personal Home Security (PHS) area manager Carl Buys said the two suspects, armed with a rifle and pistol, entered the house through the front door, which was open at the time.

“The suspects found the homeowner and his wife. They hit the woman over the head with a blunt object, then further assaulted her. They also assaulted the couple’s daughter,” Buys said.

“The robbers made off with cellphones and bags before fleeing the scene in a metallic blue Opel Corsa. PHS officers were called to the scene. The elderly woman was rushed to hospital,” Buys added.
