Suspect found with stolen 42-inch TV and air riffle
A 21-year-old man has been arrested after he was found with a 42-inch TV and an air rifle near the Tracy Watts railway line in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal.
Pro Force security arrested the man for breaking into a house in Kloof on Thursday afternoon,Highway Mail reported.
According to David Walsh, Pro Force sales manager said: “We received information about a suspicious man carrying a TV near the railway line.”
“Our officers followed the lead, and the man ran when he saw them. He was chased and apprehended. A 42-inch TV and an air rifle were recovered,” Walsh added.
It was discovered the items were stolen from a house in Kloof.
“The intruder was taken back to the house from where the items were stolen. There was no one at the house when the incident happened. We called the owner of the house who positively identified the TV and the air rifle as his belongings,” Walsh said.
Lieutenant Bongumusa Manqele from Pintown police station said the suspect was detained at the police station and a case of housebreaking and theft has been opened.
In a separate incident, ten suspects appeared in the Ngwelezane Magistrates’ Court in KwaZulu-Natal after they were found in possession of suspected stolen goods last month.
KwaMsane police spokesperson Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said police arrested eight Sokhulu community members after discovering numerous items reported stolen from Richards Bay Minerals (RBM) sites. Two of the arrested suspects are G4S security guards and were said to be the masterminds.
“Police managed to seize stolen goods, including microwaves, spanners, boots, a coat and a tool box,” Mdletshe added.
