VIDEO: Bryanston jewellery store robbed

The video, posted on Facebook by eBlockwatch founder Andre Snyman, shows a man and woman approaching the door of the store, ringing the bell, and as they enter the store, the woman is seen holding the door open while fiddling with her shoe, Sandton Chronicle reported.

The suspects had allegedly scouted the jewellery store a few days prior to the robbery.

Shortly afterwards, a man believed to be an employee of the store is seen running towards the door. He is then followed by the suspects into the store at about 10.30am, who appear to be forcing him in at gunpoint.

A fourth suspect then enters the store and closes the door.

The video does not show how the robbery ended or what the suspects stole.

Randburg police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johannes Maja said a case of alleged business robbery has been opened and police have launched a manhunt for five armed suspects who stole an undisclosed amount of jewellery from the store.

Investigations are ongoing.

Last month, overall-clad men were caught on camera robbing a jewellery store in Cape Town’s Blue Route Mall.

The video shows terrified shoppers scurrying away and taking cover as a group of about nine men, armed with handguns and hammers, storm into the mall.

The suspects then proceed to smash the display cabinets of a jewellery stall with hammers before placing items of jewellery into bags.

Later, the suspects are seen doing the same thing inside the Harris & D’arcy jewellery store.

Police spokesperson Frederick Van Wyk confirmed no shots were fired and added the suspects made off with jewellery valued at an undisclosed amount.
