VIDEO: Gunmen shoot taxi boss in Empangeni

Video footage has surfaced showing the fatal shooting of a Soweto taxi boss at a petrol station in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, earlier this week.

In the video, Dumisani Mthethwa is seen standing next to a minibus taxi at the service station on Monday, just after 5pm, Zululand Observer reported.

Two assailants suddenly walk up to Mthethwa and shoot him multiple times before fleeing.

According to police, the bullet-riddled body of Dumisani Mthetwa was found at the Engen garage in the central business district just before 6pm. He was declared dead on the scene.

Empangeni police spokesperson Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose could not confirm whether or not police were treating the killing as a hit, but he confirmed a case of murder had been opened.

It is believed Mthetwa owned a number of taxis in Soweto, however, the motive of the killing is unknown. No arrests have yet been made.
