Her royal highness, Princess Astrid of Belgium, the second born of King Albert II and Queen Paola, is expected to visit the Belgian campus in Heatherdale, Pretoria on Wednesday, along with other Belgian government officials for a tour of the campus.

Princess Astrid will be travelling to Angola and South Africa during October 2013 and to India in November 2013 to oversee over the economic missions there. A press statement stated that the purpose of the visit to the Belgian campus by the Belgian trade and business delegation in addition to South African dignitaries from universities, business and government is to experience the campus’ unique approach to inclusive education and how it will benefit future generations of South African IT professionals, business and the economy.

The statement also said that the visit would give the guests the opportunity to see new technological innovations being developed at the Belgian campus’ Innovation Hub by the students, develop far-reaching business partnerships and network with key business, education and government stakeholders.

“The day will culminate in the signing of a multi-lateral agreement between Belgian and South African universities that will ensure mutual and ongoing co-operation well into the future.”
