Art lovers are in for a treat with the opening of Neo-Baroque, an exhibition at the Fried Contemporary art gallery in Brooklyn, currently on until 23 November.
This is a new aesthetic trend, showing clear links with the dynamism of the 17th century Baroque movement. Baroque implies an architecture, art or music of extravagance, impetuousness and virtuosity, all of which are concerned with stirring the affections and senses of the individual.
The contemporary neo-Baroque logic is not merely a mirror of the 17th century Baroque era, due in part to the significant differences in economic and social conditions between the two periods, but there are many similarities.
At the same time, sculptural art lovers are invited to visit the Skukan gallery in Faerie Glen, where an exhibition by various artists celebrating the theme ‘The gift of Life’, is currently on display until 14 November.
