A Grade 9 pupil in Die Wilgers High School is still traumatised after he was stabbed for his phone in Pretoria.

The learner was walking in a field across from Presley’s nightclub at about 3.30pm on Monday when he was approached by a man who asked him what school he attended, Rekord East reported.

“The stranger stabbed the boy in his right shoulder, right hand and right upper thigh before grabbing his phone and running away,” said a family member.

The boy was taken to Wilgers hospital and received 16 stitches.

“He is in a lot of pain and very traumatised. He is still young.”

The family member said the victim worked hard and paid for his own cellphone, a Samsung S7 smartphone.

The victim received counselling at his school on Tuesday but was still very traumatised.

On Wednesday, the family member said a charge would be laid at the police station.
