A 22-year old woman from Wierdabrug in Pretoria was overpowered in her house on Sunday night, stabbed with a knife and raped.

Police spokesperson Agnes Huma said it is alleged that the women arrived home around 8pm on Sunday and found her ex-boyfriend in her house.

“An argument ensued,” said Huma. “In the process, the woman was stabbed … on both her left hand and foot before she was allegedly raped.”

She added that the victim managed to sneak out of the house and the police were called. The suspect, in his 30s, was arrested and detained at Wierdabrug police station.

Police are investigating a case of rape. In another incident, a 34-yearold man was arrested for theft on Monday after he allegedly entered a property on the corner of Cotie and Louisa Streets, where he stole clothes from the washing line and fled on foot.

Members of a local security company spotted the man carrying a bag.

They searched him and discovered the wet clothes in the bag.

The suspect is being detained at the Wierdabrug police station.
