Returning to one of her favourite races in the UCI Women's World Cup series, Ashleigh Moolman Pasio believes she has what it takes to make history today, at the La Fleche Wallonne Feminine one-day road race in Belgium.

“A win is definitely a possibility,” Moolman Pasio, above, said yesterday after going for a pre-race ride in Wallonia.

The 28-year-old national champion was third last year at the prestigious annual race, becoming the first South African rider to finish on the podium at a World Cup event, after narrowly losing out in a sprint finish up the arduous 1 300m Mur de Huy climb.

Having joined Norwegian professional outfit Hitec Products this season, she believes her new team has a solid chance of grabbing the win.

“We have a strong team and Elisa Broghini is in really good shape at the moment, the objective is for both of us to be in contention till the last climb and then give everything up the Mur,” she said.
