Murray trailed home in 52nd position at the final leg of the series in Edmonton on Sunday night, dropping three places in the elite men’s overall standings.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist had finished fifth in the 2012 and 2013 global campaigns.

His performances this year included two podium places in the eight-leg series, securing bronze in Yokohama and silver in London.

Gillian Sanders was the best of the SA women, taking 35th position in the series after finishing 26th at the season-closing race in Edmonton.
