Competing for the first time in more than two months, after being cleared of doping charges, Daryl Impey finished 11th in the prologue at the Tour of Alberta stage race in Canada.

The South African cyclist was 23 seconds off the pace of Dutch rider Tom Dumoulin (Team Giant-Shimano) who won the 4km individual time trial in 5:59.70 on Tuesday night (SA time).

Impey was the second Orica-GreenEdge rider across the line, fractions of a second behind ninth-placed Canadian team-mate Christian Meier.

His provisional suspension, handed down in July after he tested positive for the masking agent Probenecid, was lifted last week when he was cleared due to exceptional circumstances.
