WATCH: Durban warehouse on fire, creating huge smoke clouds

One person has been injured so far.

Rescue Care took to social media on Friday morning to report on thick, black smoke billowing into the Durban sky – and can been seen from as far as the Pinetown and Westville areas.

The warehouse is in Rossburgh. News24 reports that it is thought the facility belongs to Transnet.

Rescue Care paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they were on the scene and trying to fight the blaze.

He said the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit confirmed there were wax panels inside the warehouse “hence making it hard for the fire department to contain the fire”.

One worker had been injured so far.

“The fire is extremely volatile, and the wind is hampering firefighters work at the scene. One person has been treated and stabilised on scene by paramedics, and is currently on his way to hospital for further care,” Rescue Care said.
