Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said, on Wednesday at about 11.55am, three unknown men knocked on the woman’s door, Centurion Rekord reported.

Maphakela said when the woman opened the door, the suspects walked in and stole two laptops and an iPhone before strangling her to death.

Maphakela added that the domestic worker was present during the incident. The domestic worker was instructed by the intruders to continue working in another room.

“The domestic worker could not confirm if the men were armed. We are investigating cases of house robbery and murder,” said Maphakela.

In October, a man was shot and killed by robbers on his smallholding in Randfontein on the West Rand.

It was alleged the 63-year-old man and his wife were returning home when they were confronted by four men in a car.

Police said when the man got out of his car, he was shot in the face and died on the scene.

His wife was allegedly taken out of the vehicle at gunpoint, assaulted and taken into the house.

The suspects ransacked the house and also opened safes that were in the house. Firearms and cash were taken, police said.
