The incident took place at about 7pm on Thursday, Rekord Moot reported.

Botes, 29, said she entered the shop on Taljaard Street with her two daughters aged seven months and four years, when three men closed the doors as she got to the till.

She and her children were the only customers in the shop.

“I was at the till and one of them put a gun to my baby’s head. My baby started screaming and the robber told me to shut her up otherwise he was going to shoot her,” she said.

Botes took her children and ran to the back of the shop for safety. The men tipped the till into their bag and fled.

“I’m so shaken and worried they were going to shoot my baby,” Botes said.

She said no shots were fired and no one was injured.

Police were not available for comment immediately.
