A man from Laudium, south of Pretoria, was killed and another man injured during a shooting outside Presley’s Nightclub in Boksburg on Tuesday night.

The man, Ziyaad Janoo, gained popularity after featuring in a 2014 viral video, “Chicky Lamba”, in which he and his friends are seen allegedly kidnapping a man and threatening him with a gun, Rekord Centurion reported.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said paramedics arrived at the scene and found two men inside a vehicle. One of them had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“Sadly there was nothing that could be done for that patient. He had succumbed to his injuries.”

Bodasing said the second person, who also had been shot, was in a critical condition. He was airlifted to hospital for further medical care.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, an unknown number of suspects fled in a black Subaru.

“We can’t confirm how many suspects were involved. We are investigating the motive behind the shooting. A case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated,” Dlamini said.

It is alleged the shooting was a result of a drug deal gone wrong, however, Dlamini however could not confirm this.
