New load shedding schedules announced

Eskom approves static load shedding schedules for Ballito and Stanger.

Eskom has approved two new static load shedding schedules for KwaDukuza.

The southern network, which includes Ballito, Salt Rock, Shaka’s Rock, Shakaskraal and Sheffield, and the northern network, referring to Stanger, now have a fixed load shedding schedule for every month.

The schedule works on the basis that you check the date and the time and see which colour block falls in that day that will indicate what stage load shedding at what time you will have in the area if load shedding has been implemented nationally.

It is important to note that Eskom can and will only confirm on a day by day basis when and if load shedding will take place.

Due to the vulnerability of the system and demand changing everyday, Eskom can not predict if load shedding will have to be implemented later in the week, but can only notify consumers on a day by day basis.

The schedule’s colour legend will tell you what time of the day you will have load shedding and what stage that will be.

If in a day, Eskom implements stage one load shedding, which is the blue block, you will only have load shedding in the time slot where the blue block is placed.

But if Eskom begins stage two load shedding, the load shedding times will be indicated by the blue and purple blocks.

If stage three load shedding is implemented, look to the blue, purple and yellow blocks for the planned outages.

So should Eskom declare a higher load shedding stage, then all the times for the lower stages still apply.

You should also remember that if Eskom implements load shedding at 5pm for example and the load shedding time for your area is scheduled from 4pm to 6pm, then your power will still be shut down for the hour from 5pm to 6pm.
