A princely sum of R5000 is up for grabs for hooking the tagged bass at the 2017 Seeff / North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Fishing Fun Day.

This morning Courier sales rep David Hoehler and his mate Jonni Wills took up the ‘arduous task’ of tagging a fish for the job at Dudley Pringle Dam.

“It was fantastic. We went early and caught a number of fish sized between 1 and 2kgs.

“The largest was 2,8kgs and this was the one we tagged for the competition,” said Hoehler.

The dam has been closed to fishermen for many years and is rumoured to hold some monstrous bass of up to 6kgs.

Dudley Pringle was opened last September for the 2016 North Coast Courier Orphan Fund Bass competition and the sold-out event had lines wizzing all morning as anglers brought in fish after fish in the 2 – 3 kg range.

“In my opinion Dudley Pringle offers some of the best fishing you will find on any dam in South Africa.”

Aspiring young anglers can also look forward to the kiddies fishing clinic, and the whole family will enjoy the opportunity to picnic on the lawns.

The Ballito Lions will be selling boerewors rolls and cool drinks and there will be ample, safe parking as well as toilet facilities.

Registration starts at 6.30am, with lines up at 10.30am. There will be loads of lucky draw prizes up for grabs.

Entry fees are R100 for bank anglers and R150 for paddle ski or small inflatable paddle boat anglers.
