Rain can’t stop Heritage Day runners at Ballito’s Run Your Roots
A portion of proceeds from the event will be shared between the Salt40 Foundation and Bloom Special Needs School.
More than 170 runners laced up in the colours of the South African flag and braved a rainy Heritage Day 5.6km run last week.
The annual Run Your Roots event started at Hops Ballito, taking participants on a hilly loop up to Jacqueline Drive and back down to sea level, where they were greeted with a sponsored beverage of their choice.
A portion of proceeds from the event will be shared between the Salt40 Foundation and Bloom Special Needs School.
“The support was overwhelming, despite the bad weather!” said race organiser Amanda Howard of WeDoCreative.
“There was a great vibe throughout the morning and it was the perfect start to Heritage Day. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and thank you to our sponsors.”
In addition to the Heritage Day run, the same route is used for a monthly community run on the first Sunday of each month. The run starts at 7am, and all runners receive a free coffee or beer at the finish.
