Unidentified body found in uMhlanga

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body that was found along the uMhlanga coastline.

A man believed to be in his 50s or 60s was found dead along the Umhlanga coastline on Monday afternoon (May 4).

Emergency services responded to the scene at Umhlanga Beach where the body of an unidentified man was recovered from the shoreline.

“A Metro Search and Rescue team recovered the body from the coastline while KZN VIP Emergency Medical Services conducted on-scene medico-legal procedures,” said a KZN VIP spokesperson.

The deceased is believed to be a white male, however his identity has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities are appealing to members of the public with missing relatives matching the description in areas including uMhlanga, Ballito and Umdloti to contact SAPS Durban North.

The body was removed from the scene for further investigation. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
