St Henrys Marist College

As part of our marketing and communications, we highlight that we are ‘co-educational with traditional values’. What does this actually mean? For us at St Henry’s, these words are more than just a by-line.

For a large portion of its 93 year history, St Henry’s was a school for boys only. Then, some 30 years ago, in line with other Marist schools in the country and around the world, the school took the important decision to be co-educational. This decision has meant that our campus reflects the nature of the world outside the walls of a school. Males and females are not separate from each other in life but rather interact and co-operate as colleagues, friends and family members. This is how it should be.

Our belief in traditional values does not mean that we are old-fashioned but rather that we believe that a school with clear values and expectations about self-discipline, respect and effort will provide its students with the best foundation for their future lives. The educational programme that we provide is relevant for the world of today and tomorrow but it is traditional values which help to form young people and make this programme all the more worthwhile.
