A summer sports festival comes to Victory Park

The sports festival was hosted by the alumni of De La Salle Holy Cross College and it had sports such as tennis and cricket being played.

The alumni association of De La Salle Holy Cross College recently hosted the Alumni 2024 Summer Sports Festival where tennis balls were volleyed and cricket players were bowled out.

The event takes place every year and it is held as a way to bring past learners and parents current and past, together for a day of enjoyment. Patrick Munyembate an alumni representative, the day was all about friend-raising through a sports event, “Bringing the younger alumni back for in a relaxed environment.” The association finds it important to come back to one’s school and give back in any way, “We have such fond memories and I think as children when you come to this school you a very privileged to come to here and a great way to appreciate is by giving back,” he described.

People really took to the day and what was really awesome for the older alumni to was the enthusiastic participation of the younger new members. Munyembate said generally when newer matriculants leave it usually takes them close to five years to come back but the day saw the accompaniment of 2023 matriculants which was terrific for the association.

This sporting event has taken place for the past three years and each year it seems to grow bigger and better.
